Physician Assistant Spotlight: Michelle Grosso, Plastic Surgery

Physician Assistant Spotlight: Michelle Grosso, Plastic Surgery

October 6-12 marks National PA Week; a week devoted to honoring, thanking and recognizing Physician Assistants, their contributions to the nation’s health and the profession as a whole. In honor of National PA Week, we’ll be honoring and featuring the Physician Assistants at Advanced Specialty Care throughout the entire month of October.

I became a Physician Assistant because I’ve always loved science and had an interest in medicine. For my undergraduate studies, I attended Salisbury University in Maryland where I received my Bachelor of Science. From there, I attended Cornell University Medical College’s Physician Assistant Program.

Once in PA school, I developed a love for being the first assist on surgeries and being in the operating room in general. I also obtained a Special Recognition in Surgery from The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and continue to be the first assist on both cosmetic and medical plastic surgery cases, working side by side with our Plastic Surgeons.

Outside of surgery, I see pre- and post-operative patients in the office, perform MicroNeedling, Chemical Peels and provide Botox and Fillers injections. I also have many years of  experience performing sclerotherapy, spider vein treatment, and routinely see patients for spider vein treatments at Advanced Specialty Care’s Danbury, CT office which is something I really enjoy outside of surgery.

I chose this route, becoming a PA, instead of pursuing medical school and becoming an MD because I enjoyed the flexibility of being able to change my specialty at any time without any additional training. Becoming a PA also allowed me to have a career and be a mom. Working primarily in the OR, my days start very early but that means I’m able to attend after school dance recitals and sporting events while balancing not only a career but a passion.

Michelle Grosso, PA-C has practiced as a Physician Assistant in both office practice and operating room settings. She’s an accomplished provider with experience assisting with plastic surgery surgical cases, performing spider vein treatments (sclerotherapy), caring for pre- and post-operative patients and more.
