1. How did you get into the field? What led you to Dermatology?
During medical school I devoted time researching light therapy and psoriasis treatments. This research paired with the great advances in the field and being able to provide patients with excellent results and relief of symptoms is what ultimately led me to pursue Dermatology.
2. What are your favorite aspects of being a Dermatologist?
My favorite aspect of being a Dermatologist is the ability to immediately help many patients, often even before they leave the exam room. For example, the majority of skin cancers and precancerous growths can be treated in the office if detected early enough.
Another aspect that I enjoy about being a dermatologist is the ability to use many new and effective treatments for chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis which can provide near clearance for many patients. It is rewarding to see patients enjoy a better quality of life without having to suffer from a chronic skin condition.
3. What are the most challenging parts of your job?
The most challenging part of my job is working with insurance companies to make sure that patients receive the medications that they need. I think this is a shared challenge among doctors and practitioners in this day age.
4. What is it like working alongside other specialists such as Plastic Surgery and Allergy? What advantage does it offer you and your patients?
Working in a multidisciplinary practice with other specialists in plastic surgery and allergy provides patients with a multidisciplinary approach. Patients in need of specialized surgical procedures for skin cancers or growths on the face or hands can benefit from working with the plastic surgery team. Similarly, I am able to work alongside allergy and immunology specialists to help patients with skin conditions associated with allergic reactions such as eczema, contact dermatitis and hives.
5. What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring Connecticut. After recently moving to Connecticut from New York, we are enjoying nature and quiet.
6. What’s on your bucket list?
Currently, the top two items on my bucket list are building a paver patio and convincing my son to like math and science.
7. What do you most want patients to know about you?
I am completely dedicated to doing what is best for each patient and making sure that my patients are informed about their diagnosis and the different treatment options and associated risks and benefits. I always aim to do my best in making sure that my patients receive the highest quality of medical care.
