Four-Food Group Elimination Diet

Four-Food Group Elimination Diet

Note: sometimes also described as the eight-food group elimination diet

Avoid all food groups for 6-8 weeks. A positive response is defined by clinical and histologic remission i.e., sufficient decrease of eosinophils in the esophagus (endoscopy and esophageal biopsy).

Those who respond positively to the elimination of the four food groups may subsequently reintroduce each of the individual food groups for 6-8 weeks (reintroducing one food group every 6-8 weeks), to be monitored by a follow-up endoscopy/esophageal biopsy.
