Noisy Toys of 2020: Hearing Protection May Be Required!

Noisy Toys of 2020: Hearing Protection May Be Required!

Does your child own any of the toys on this year’s Annual Noisy Toy List from the Sight & Hearing Association? If so, you may want to take some precautions in order to protect your child’s hearing.

Out of the 24 toys tested this year, 14 tested above 85 dB which is the level set by the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety for mandatory hearing protection and may pose a threat to your child’s hearing.

Earning the top spot as the loudest toy on the list is The Learning Journey Intl. Little Baby Bongo Drums which produced a whopping 105.5 dB of noise. That’s louder than a motorcycle or approaching subway train and is loud enough to cause hearing damage within 15 minutes of play time. Check out a copy of this year’s Noisy Toy List below and see if you have any of these toys in your home. When you’re done, click here to read some safe listening tips for noisy toys and headphones.
