Get to know Dr. Neetu Godhwani, Allergy, Immunology and Asthma specialist at Advanced Specialty Care!Spend a few minutes with Dr. Godhwani and you’ll quickly realize how passionate and deeply involved she is with her work. In this blog, she shares what inspired her to pursue a career practicing as an Allergy, Immunology and Asthma Specialist and also opens up about her interests outside of the office.
1. What’s your favorite part about working at Advanced Specialty Care?
By far, I would have to say it is our amazing staff and patients. We have a warm, caring, supportive and friendly group of doctors, nurses, medical assistants and office staff. All of us work together to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible. I love working with patients of all ages and from all parts of the world.
2. What is it like working in a multi-specialty practice?
Working with a multi-specialty practice is wonderful. Having access to colleagues from different specialties allows us to bounce ideas off of one another and provide seamless care. If I need a patient to been seen by another specialty, I can help expedite the evaluation and easily speak with that colleague about the patient’s concern.
3. What is it like working in multiple locations?
Each office location has its own feel. I enjoy working with patients and staff in each of our satellite locations. It gives me an opportunity to meet and work with many more people.
4. What are your favorite parts about being an Allergy, Immunology and Asthma provider?
We have so many ways in which we can help our patients feel better. There have been numerous advancements in research, medication, and treatment options for patients with asthma, environmental and food allergies and immunodeficiencies.
5. How did you get into the field? What lead you to Allergy, Immunology and Asthma?
During my residency in pediatrics, I worked with immunodeficiency patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. This is what first spiked my interest in the field. After that, I did a rotation in allergy, immunology and pulmonology and realized I really enjoyed the specialty. The specialty of allergy and immunology is an area of continued growth and advancement. We are discovering new things about allergy, asthma and the immune system on a daily basis. This makes it an exciting field to be a part of. I also found that there was so much we could do to get patients feeling better and this is particularly rewarding.
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, drawing/painting, practicing yoga and mindfulness, spending time outdoors and going into the city to catch a show.
7. What’s on your bucket list?
I would love to write a children’s book one day would also like to travel to every continent.
8. What do you most want patients to know about you?
I love what I do and I love helping people feel better! It’s really a privilege to work at Advanced Specialty Care and I enjoy coming to work each day. I am open-minded and very thorough. I really listen to my patients and do my very best to help them by approaching their concerns from different angles.
