Breast Augmentation & Breast Implants at Advanced Specialty Care in Connecticut
Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty) surgery involves placing saline or silicone breast implants to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Breast implants may be considered for a variety of reasons including:
- Desiring larger breasts
- Correcting breast symmetry if one breast is different from the other
- Improving breast shape after pregnancy
- Following reconstruction after mastectomy or surgical removal of the breast due to breast cancer
At Advanced Specialty Care, our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons only use FDA-approved, smooth shelled saline and silicone breast implants. Our practice does not use textured breast implants as they have been linked to potential health risks.
Because of their natural look and feel, saline filled gel breast implants are the most popular. Saline implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes or projections such as regular and high profile and they offer a more natural look and feel that closely resembles natural breast tissue.
Saline filled breast implants are also available and are filled with a sterile salt water. Unlike silicone implants, saline implants do not come in multiple shapes; saline implants are only available in multiple sizes, referring to the amount of sterile salt water inside the implant.
Our plastic surgeons will discuss the best breast implant option for you during your consultation and will allow you to “try on” multiple implants to help determine the optimal size and shape.
The decision to have breast augmentation is a highly personal one and should not be undertaken until you consult with a qualified plastic surgeon. Plastic surgeons Dr. Stacey June, Dr. Sohel Islam and Dr. Prashant Soni have gone through extensive training and certification in order to offer their patients the most up-to-date options in breast augmentation and reconstruction.
