Cyanea Herrera provides teen and adult HydraFacial, MicroNeedling, PRP MicroNeedling, teen and adult NeoStrata Chemical Peels and Lymphatic Drainage treatments at Advanced Specialty Care’s Norwalk, CT office. 1. What’s your favorite part about working at Advanced Specialty Care?
I love helping others. When patients come in with certain concerns or maybe they’re not feeling their best; I can help reassure them and make them feel confident.
2. What is it like working in a multi-specialty practice?
Working in a multi-specialty practice means I’m always expanding my education and learning new and innovative treatment options and methodologies from our physician specialists. Having multiple specialties in the same practice makes each day exciting and new. I may be performing a HydraFacial on a dermatology or plastic surgery patient one day and the next day I may have an ENT patient trying out a NeoStrata Peel for the first time!
3. What are your favorite parts about being a skincare specialist?
Besides learning about the latest treatments and advances in skincare, my favorite part of being a skincare specialist is the continuous personal interaction I have with the patients. I love that the treatments are hands-on and individual to each patient. I’m able to customize treatments based on each person’s unique needs and also give specific advice and recommendation for skincare regimens and products- something that you couldn’t get from a drugstore or spa.
4. What are the most challenging parts of your job?
Skincare is not one-size-fits-all. Our skincare treatments are truly formulated around and tailored to a patient’s individual needs, from skin issues to budgetary concerns, so there are a lot of factors to consider when caring for a patient. Some patients may also want their specific issues corrected in one treatment and they often don’t realize that it may take time and a few sessions to correct years’ worth of skin damage caused by sun exposure or acne scars. Working with skin can sometimes be difficult but it’s equally rewarding.
5. How did you get into the field? What lead you to skincare?
My personal experience with my own skin issues and an interest in beauty and skin products lead me to skincare. While helping my own skin along my journey, I have wanted to help others.
6. What do you like to do outside of work?
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, workout and go to the beach. Of course, I always slather on SPF and practice sun safety to protect my skin while at the beach or outside!
7. What’s on your bucket list?
I’d love to travel the world, attend art classes and continue to expand my education.
8. What do you most want patients to know about you?
I am human and in most cases, I have gone through the same skin issues as you. I am all too familiar with acne and oily skin and have family members that suffer from the same problem. I’m here to help you look and feel your best!
