Are you suffering from thinning hair? Advanced Specialty Care offers PRP Hair Restoration to naturally treat hair loss and thinning hair in both men and women.
PRP hair restoration provides a natural, safe and effective treatment for hair loss with little downtime.
What is PRP?
PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma, is a high concentration of your body’s own nutrient-rich blood cells that contains essential growth factors and proteins.
Your doctor will draw a small amount of your blood and place it in a centrifuge machine to rapidly spin it, separating out the platelets to create the PRP. The PRP is then injected into the scalp at the hair follicles in the area of thinning hair.
Because the Platelet Rich Plasma used is from your own body, it is completely natural and very safe.
How Does PRP Work for Hair Restoration?
The Platelet Rich Plasma stimulates hair growth by increasing blood supply to the hair follicles while delivering vital growth factors that promote healing and repair and help to reawaken the hair follicle to stimulate natural hair growth.
Patients have reported an increase in hair count and thickness and a reduction of hair loss after completing treatment. Your individual results may vary depending on several factors.
Though most patients may undergo PRP hair restoration treatments, your doctor will determine if you are a candidate for the treatment.
What is the Treatment Like?
At the start of each treatment, blood will be drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to obtain the Platelet Rich Plasma. The PRP is then injected into the scalp across the area of thinning hair.
Monthly treatments are required for the first 3 months followed by a 6-month treatment and a follow-up at 1 year. Each treatment typically only takes 10-20 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.
Downtime is minimal and only requires that you avoid washing your hair the night following treatment and that you avoid rigorous exercise for 24 hours.
Hair Restoration is available at Advanced Specialty Care’s Ridgefield, CT, and Stamford, CT offices.
