What happens during a PRP MicroNeedling session?
A PRP MicroNeedling session is not dissimilar from a “regular” MicroNeedling session just with an added step or two.
When you come in for your session, blood is simply drawn from your arm and is then “spun down” to separate out the platelets for use in the treatment. And don’t worry, this is all done in our office so there’s no need to go to a laboratory to have this done.
The small, medical grade MicroNeedling device contains very small needles that are used to create controlled, micro-injuries as its gently glided across your skin.
Platelet Rich Plasma is topically applied to your skin during the treatment so it can be easily absorbed by the skin through the superficial micro-injuries created.
Without the creation of these micro-injuries, there would be no way for the PRP to effectively penetrate through the skin to deliver the beneficial growth factors that help in the generation and cellular functions of the skin.
A series of 3 treatments 1 month apart is generally recommended. Redness of the skin after treatment is normal and lasts 24 hours. The noticeable results you can see a week after are decrease in pore size, smooth texture, improvement of brown spots and red acne marks.
