Chemical Peels And Photofacial Treatments For Aging Skin and Acne

Chemical Peels And Photofacial Treatments For Aging Skin and Acne

Whether you are seeking a younger facial appearance or trying to get rid of acne, there are simple cosmetic treatments that can help both. Chemical peels are great for anti-aging and acne/oily skin. They help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth the texture of the skin, and assist in hydration for firmer skin. They are also used for acne, including acne scars, cysts, and clogged pores. Some chemicals used include glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or the more aggressive TCA (trichloroacetic acid). They can be performed on the face, neck, chest, and hands and can be done on a monthly basis.

Common Types of Chemical Peels

NeoStrata Chemical Peels are customizable making them a great peel for first-time patients and regulars. It is gentle but effective, and there is no downtime. They use glycolic acid, mandelic acid, citric acid and retinol to maximize skin-rejuvenating effects with minimal downtime.

Chemical peels are great for acne, age spots, and fine lines. Most patients experience about two to five days of white flaking of the skin afterward.

HydraFacial Treatment

If you are looking for a more hydrating yet effective treatment, the HydraFacial is best for you. The HydraFacial™ treatment uses an abrasive tip to remove dead skin cells and extracts impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing serums. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective. The HydraFacial treatment is designed for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates the HydraFacial treatment. Your physician or skincare professional may choose specific serums and/or customize the treatment for your unique skin conditions and needs.

Photofacials

For pigmentation issues, such as brown spots, broken capillaries, red ruddy complexion, uneven skin tone the IPL intense pulsed light) laser is the most effective treatment. This treatment is often called a photo facial. Using the Lumenis M22 IPL machine much of this sun damage can be reversed. The intense pulsed light targets this damage and can restore your face to a more youthful skin appearance. The IPL treatment is a series of 3-4 sessions, one month apart. Right after the treatment sessions, your skin may have some mild redness that lasts for a few hours. Discomfort is minimal and most people return to their daily activities immediately. The treated blood vessels and brown spots may appear temporarily darker but will fade after 1-2 weeks. Sun protection before and after these treatments is very important.
