10 Things You Need To Know About Buttock Augmentation

The perceptions of what the ideal female form should be have changed over the years. Recently, celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian have popularized the idea of having a more voluptuous, curvy buttocks area. This trend has led to more people seeking to enhance their buttocks. One of the safest and most popular ways to accomplish this is by taking fat from unwanted areas and injecting it into the buttocks, fat transfer (grafting).

1. You can transfer fat to a variety of areas in the body, including the face and buttocks.

2. The fat for grafting is obtained via liposuction, usually from along the trunk, back or thighs.

3. Liposuction is an added benefit of buttock augmentation. Many women as they age, gain weight in their abdomen, flanks, back or thighs. In the past, this fat was simply discarded. But now plastic surgeons can use this fat from unwanted areas to enhance other areas of the body such as buttock augmentation.

4. The procedure is typically done under general anesthesia. Liposuction is performed along the anterior trunk and thighs first. Then, the patient is turned over on the bed and liposuction can be performed along the back and flank areas.

5. Before being used for buttock augmentation, the fat is processed to improve survival of the fat cells, and it is also soaked in an antibiotic solution.

6. The fat is placed into the buttocks via a small needle or cannula. Ideally, the fat is injected in small amounts into the gluteal region to ensure a maximum of fat cells survive.

7. The exact amount of fat used for the augmentation depends on what look the patient desires, but generally, 500-1000 cc’s of fat is ideal to improve the contour of the buttocks.

8. Following surgery, people are advised to avoid directly sitting on the area for a few days.

9. Expect some reabsorption of fat cells but most of the fat survives.

10. You can see the results of the surgery immediately.

Fat transfer to the buttocks is a safe, reliable way of enhancing someone’s figure while improving other parts of their body at the same time. The majority of people who’ve undergone the procedure are very happy with the outcome and would recommend it to others.
